{Oh Happy Day}

I recently got my first order of stamps by {CONCORD & 9TH} and I couldn't wait to play with them!  Concord & 9th just celebrated their first birthday... I don't know where I was this last year, but as soon as they were on my radar, I squee'd over how awesome their designs are.  I'm sure my C9 supply will start growing immensely soon.

There's also a brand-new challenge blog for C9 called {Where Creativity Meets C9} and their first challenge theme is CELEBRATION!  Since this is the time of year I need the most birthday cards, I pulled out my new stamp sets and got to work:

The first stamp set I saw that I fell in love with was the "Sophisticated Script" set.  Hello...It's amazing!  For those of us who haven't mastered the talent of gorgeous script handwriting, we can now fake it like a pro.  Hee hee!  The individual letters link up to each other perfectly for a cohesive scripted look.  I can't wait to create my own sentiments with this set!

I started my card with a panel of watercolor paper.  I stamped the script sentiment in the middle first, then I covered it with a round piece of scrap paper to mask it off.  I then stamped a plethora of images from the "Wildflower" stamp set all around the circle, making sure to overlap a few of them onto the masked circle, so the end effect of a clean and clear center would really pop!

I then quickly (and very imperfectly) water-colored the images with some Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers. I also flicked on some pink, yellow, turquoise, and black Glimmer Mist sprays which look super cute and sparkly.  Once the panel was dry, I removed the center mask to reveal this:

Woo hoo!  It worked!  Just the look I was going for. I wanted a flat, one-layer card that could be easily mailed, but I still wanted it to look like it had a little dimension.

I backed the card onto a matching orange card stock base, added a few extra decor details to the front, went over some of the elements with a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen for extra sparkle, and it was complete.  I love it and I hope you do, too!

I'm linking this card to the following challenges:

Thank you so much for visiting!
