I often like to look through my holiday stamp sets to see if I can come up with a way to use them outside of the holiday they are intended.  It takes a bit of imagination sometimes, but usually turns out just fine!

For this card, I used the "Spice It Up" stamp set by Power Poppy.  It's a Winter/Christmas themed set, with gorgeous citrus and clove pomanders, a bit of mistletoe and pretty ribbons, and some cute sentiments like 'Smells Like Christmas' and 'Comfort And Joy'.  But, it also has this 'Scent With Love' sentiment that can be used any time.  I paired it with the single wrapped pomander; I wouldn't mind if my house smelled like oranges and cloves and cinnamon all year, would you?

I stamped the sentiment and image onto watercolor paper and watercolored them with Distress Ink markers, water, and a paintbrush.  I added some white details with a white ink gel pen.  I chose to color the ribbon in a pretty turquoise color that looks great with orange, but also to avoid the typical Christmas color scheme that I would normally use with this set.

I made a die-cut frame to surround the main image.  I used the same pomander image and stamped it multiple times around the outside scalloped die-cut.  I then used orange Distress Inks to blend on some color.

I used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to create dots and splatters on the card base background, along with a bit more blending of the orange Distress Ink.  I finished off the image with a wrap and bow of baker's twine, some glitter pen coverage, and a few orange and iridescent sequins placed here and there.

I think I could totally give this card to someone at any time of the year, especially alongside a pretty yummy scented candle or a baked treat.  What do you think?

WOW!!!! I love the way you used that image as a centerpiece with that fabulous colouring - but to use it again in a different way to create the border is genius!! Love it!! Thanks so much for playing along with Power Poppy this month!!
